e have traveled extensively in North America, and have experienced several very
mutually enjoyable exchanges. From the Gulf of Mexico to Vancouver Island; from Vermont to
San Diego we have enjoyed the hospitality and mutual respect of many fellow home swappers.
We can honestly say we have not regretted one single exchange.
On a motor cycle trip
around the perimeter of the U.S. a few years ago,
click here to read article, we
made arrangements for seven exchanges along our route, all of which were owed to us from
previous guests at our home in Uxbridge.
The seven were spaced so that we were able to get a much-needed rest along our journey,
and for a couple of seniors that meant a lot, believe me. They included luxurious
accommodations in Alabama and Bonita California. In addition, we stayed in Mississippi,
Valeijo California, Vancouver, Dubois Wyoming and a beachside cottage in Frankfort
Michigan on the Upper Peninsula.
Together these exchanges provided free (and compared to motels, opulent lodging) for
eight of the eleven weeks we were gone.
We have exchanged several times now with folks from Canada, mostly in nearby Quebec,
and have maintained correspondence with some. The most recent was in a very comfortable
home near Magog close to the shore of Lake Memphremagog.
We enjoy both city and country settings, and some of our fondest recollections have
been from both. On memorable swap we had a condo on the 15th floor of a high rise within
walking distance of Central Park. The exchange was on Thanksgiving, so we got to see Macys
parade close up. In addition we explored a lot of the City.
Another great weekend swap included the whole family at a
condo in Vermont at a ski resort. Our children and grandchildren
had the time of their lives snow boarding and down hill skiing,
while I cross country skied.
