Peg and I have been traveling alone for 30
years, been to 25 countries including Turkey and many times to Mexico. I write &
Peg edits a travel column, "Wanderlust," for our small town monthly, The New
Uxbridge Times, in Massachusetts, USA.
Watching tourists being herded
around from one touted site to the next just didn't seem like
the way to go. We make most of our own arrangements and
wander alone. The greatest benefits of travel are to be
obtained from just wandering in and out of side streets, hopping
on local busses and going off to small villages. In this
way we meet wonderful people, and have made international
friends that we still communicate with. We learned long
ago that there was a marked difference between being a tourist
and a traveler.
Exploring the planet, with all
its wonderful beauty and incredible diversity is just about the
most enjoyable endeavor of our lives. Come with us now.
Perhaps we can entice you, too, to seek adventure and intrigue,
off the beaten path.
